Ed Yen is Co-Founder and Creative Executive Officer of a-Peer Culture & Technology Co., a music/technology company which developed an innovative business model using leading-edge information technologies to serve the music and entertainment industries. a-Peer has offices located in Shanghai,Wisconsin, Taipei and Stockholm. Ed Yen also serves the head of Pop Music Project Office (PMPO) of the Taiwan Government Information Office. PMPO is advising Taiwan government in developing pop music strategies and executing promotion activities for the pop music industry.
Ed Yen is one of those rare music industry professionals who possess both the talent and expertise in the creative arts, technology and business operations that are required to handle the countless complex tasks required to successfully coordinate business management and music creation operations. His creativity, dedication and professionalism have resulted in the sale of many millions of records world-wide.
At age 25 Ed was invited to be the Music Director of concerts and TV broadcasting for Asia Olympic Games held in Beijing from 1988 through 1990. Ed was also chief consultant to the world’s largest cartoon film production company, Hong-Guang Co. Ltd., where he produced films and TV productions for major studios in Japan and the U.S., including Universal, Paramount and Disney.
Prior to founding a-Peer Ed worked and consulted with leading Asian executives in the music and media industries. This work includes his roles as:
• Executive Assistant to the President of EMI Taiwan in charge of the A&R division. Ed developed their business management system for merging and acquiring international record labels.
• Chief Producer and A&R for major record labels and indie clients with prominent international acts that include: James Galway/BMG, Yo Yo Ma/Sony, Tracy Huang/Universal, Ken Kuo/Jingo, ABC Bakery (children learning program)/TVBS.
• International Manager for ARC International Music in Taiwan. Ed successfully licensed BBC catalogues for the Asian market.
Ed is currently the Chairman of the Reform Committee for the Taiwan Golden Melody Award (equivalent to the Grammy Awards) and a long time member of the Judges Panel.
