On September 25th, 2014 the Supervisory Board of Vnesheconombank chaired by Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev appointed Mr. Alexei Chekunkov as the CEO of the Far East Development Fund (FEDV).  
FEDF was established by the initiative of the President and the Government of the Russian Federation with the mandate to invest in priority investment projects contrib-uting to acceleration of economic growth and the development of the Russian Far East. The Fund as a part of unified system, set up to accelerate the development of the Russian Far East, cooperates with the Embassy of the President of Rus-sian Federation in the Far Eastern Federal District, Ministry of Far East Development and it’s stakeholder Vnesheconombank. 
In 2011-2013 Mr. Chekunkov worked as a Director, Member of the Management Board and Investment Committee at the Russian Direct Investment Fund (RDIF). At RDIF Mr. Chekunkov was responsible for investments in healthcare, energy and commodities sectors as well as for establishing The Russia-China Investment Fund with a $2 billion capital. 
In 2009-2011 Mr. Chekunkov managed his own investment firm – New Nations Capi-tal, focused on resource sector investments and advisory engagements in emerging markets.
In 2006-2009 Mr. Chekunkov served as co-founding Managing Director in the United Gold Company (UGC), a metals & mining - focused investment company sponsored by Alfa Group, Russia’s largest private conglomerate with assets of over $50 Billion. At UGC Mr. Chekunkov executed a range of successful investments in Russia, Asia and Africa. 
In 2003-2006 Mr. Chekunkov was an associate and a Vice-President at Delta Private Equity, one of the leading private equity companies in Russia managing over $500 mil-lion from international institutional investors. Mr. Chekunkov participated in several landmark deals including the sale of Delta Bank, TV channels CTC and TV-3, sale of National Cable Networks and of Compulink.
In 2002-2003 Mr. Chekunkov served as a Project Director at Investment Group Alrosa.
