rASia.com impressed its previous speakers !

Christian Ulf-Hansen, founder of Plan C Management,TV and Film production company comes back this year. He explains the mutation of music and film industries.

I’m really happy to come back to rASiA.com because Alexander has created a very new format of International Conference, welcoming Innovation, but also focussing on Russia as a forward thinking, natural central hub for this kind of International event, which makes it an important place to come back to.
There is an overall feeling of entrepreneurship that also pervades the many people that the conference attracts, which is healthy and welcome.

The question of the future is always asking with innovation and for me it‘s a constant sea of change.
In Music, as streaming becomes more important, I need to focus more on how my artists fans consume their music and how and with whom they stream and how to reach new ones... I also have an interactive film coming this year for one artist which will be something new and I will be working on how it will impact and how interactive it can be via mobile devices; it was a joint venture with a film production company, so it is again a new model in how I operate and it needs to satisfy commercially and artistically on many levels...
I have too a kids animated TV series I own part of going into production with another company as the show runner; and I am now developing the story and IP of another one, which, this time around, we will be more involved with the actual post development part, all the way into production and exploitation, hopefully in a very modern way.

As mentioned above the digital model is changing as it evolves, which means a lot of keen tracking and watching as to how to change your business to suit the new world. However, having been through Vinyl (Still very much alive as a premium product), Cassette, CD, VHS, Betamax, minidisc, fax, email, Video 2000, Digital compact cassette, digital downloads, streaming social media etc in the past 20 years…new formats and ways of working in entertainment is nothing new. One thing that should be addressed, is how record companies account for new formats, specifically streaming, under old agreements... So, it’s complex for the music industry to change its business model with the digital but we can adapt because thIs industry has always worked with changes and developments of new formats.
